PHOTOGRAPHY--ARCHITECTURE--4

       a.   meter reading:........take the meter reading of the building making sure that the sky does not cause the meter to under-expose.  spot-metering can be used to measure the correct reading.

       b.   aperture: this is as important as giving a correct exposure to the subject.  wide apertures will give a reduced DOF, while using small aperture of f8/f11 will render sharp details and maximum DOF.  this will help u to avoid distortion, which is a distracting feature in architectural photography. and  the client will not accept the photograph. .....in d-cams, u can utilise the LCD panel to judge the correct perspective and show at hand to the client, and try to know what he wants further. and if u are shooting for ur own interest, that interest will be saved by the best result u now obtained. thanks.......

   a.  WHen preparing for shooting, carry wide angle lenses of 24/28mm and telephoto lenses of 70mm onwards. with wide angle it will help u cover the entire building and with telephoto u will be able to avoid converging verticles and zooming to shoot the imp.elements avoiding unnecessary details. by stepping back, u will be able to cover the desired area.

  b.   CAmera shd be held at a perfect level and parallel to the ground. otherwise u may get a slanting picture...........also use a polariser. this will avoid reflections from steel and glass columns and will help to get the sky in b/ground as deep blue.

    b. SELect the high megapixel camera such as 10 MP. ...because old/ancient architecture often has a lot of intricate details and sharp colours. and for moonlit or deliberate higher grainy effect, select the higher ISOs.

    c. BEfore setting up finally beware of the converging verticals.... they can vertually destroy an articture shot.  Converging verticals arise when the camera is not held parallel to the subject.  generally the photographer is tempted the take the whole subject in the camera, while tilting the camera upwards. this may help to get the entire building in the frame but with the vertical lines converging at the top.  ....one remedy is to use a perspective control lens.  but that can be an expensive affair.  a cheaper solution is to step back and hold the camera back parallel to the subject. often this pronlem  arises with wide angle lenses and particularly below 24mm lenses. so use the lens which will give u correct perspective.

a..  while preparing, to be sure that the lighting is perfect. ....it shd never be against the light or have shadows in important part of the picture.    the best lighting effect is generally got at early morning or late afternoon. ....the mid day sun in our country(India) can be very harsh and will create a lot of unwanted shadows unless u r able to take advantage of this harshness for ur client's liking.

HOW TO UPLOAD PHOTOS

Posted by gshroti  at 23:41

GENERALLY the photographers are uploading their photographs on various sites and the site rely on their photos, otherwise what is the existence of that site..............but as time passes, it came to understand that what valuable photos u are uploading on any site may be in the eyes of thieves. ......and there were incidences of theft.

SO while posting photos on site, upload photo in low resolution, may be 640x480, 320x180 and giving your name at right or left hand corners of use transparent letters. under these resolution photos cannot be enlarged, so they will be safe here and original with u.  and if u r a pro. and uploading photos to stock agencies, upload them in full resolution, because stock agencies produce photos to the buyers in low resolution, and if the deal is done, full resolution photo will be given after receiving payment. so my advice, beware while uploading...............rest is ur luck.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

Posted by gshroti  at 23:39

It is not a child's task to get good portraits from people. because of difference in faces, difference in behaviour, to tackle such people to give good pose, particularly, who stare in cameras, is a little bit tricky.  .........when being photographed many people exhibit tension by staring in the camera. ....in order to overcome this, ask them to close their and drop their chin onto the chest, then slowly lift the head and eyes. u will be relieved that the stare is gone. now u can click by saying a few jocky words. your work is over.

BALDNESS:..................THis is the second genre of people, who look more than happy. but to photograph them is easier with some tricks again, so they look less baldy..........for this light the subject from the side and shoot from below the chin line and avoid lighting from above and shooting from forehead level  to avoid unwanted prominence to the hair line(which is nil). our aim is to make customer happy. so a happy shooting.

SELLING PHOTOS

Posted by gshroti  at 18:42
I just came through one site for selling photos of the regd photographers.   for free subscribers the ratio is 80:20......the photographer will get 20% on one photo. the amount will be paid on totalling to Rs1000/-.  thanks God there are hundreds of photographers submitted their photos. i guessed, when my amount will total upto Rs1000/- @ 20%.  i am afraid it may take months/years. because i am an amateur and don't have that much stock of saleable pix. the pix easily saleable are top class landscapes, wildlife, nature, birds and a host of lot.  my good wishes to those photographers who will gether Rs1000/- at the earliest and there are best among them. so good luck.

PHOTOGRAPHY AS ART....2

Posted by gshroti  at 10:06
despite ITS MECHANICAL TERMS, the photography, through the hard labour of their creators has become a piece of art. ..........but posting photos on sites, hardly 10% are worth to be treated as art because the calculative mind of the photographer.............no doubt, it cannot stand in line with painting, the original creation, though canvas, paint and brush have been used to show the skill of its master.   because of different opinions, the photography may lag behind to be termed as 'art'........but its standing cannot be denied.

PHOTOGRAPHY

this is the field, i was involved with since last many years and have seen different changes till coming to digital photography. the field needs a hard labour, time and once u are on the run, there is nobody to check u. so young people come to this field. here degree holders will do, non-degree holder with a fast and calculative brain will have chances to show their worth.
