Recently looking for trends in the travel industry I came across this article and decided to share:

"In response to the survey results, Zonder CEO, Bob Barnes commented, ’We’re seeing a sharp increase in people choosing a vacation rental within driving distance rather than paying for airfare and staying in a hotel. Vacation homes have always been a great value, but especially during tough economic times. In addition to saving on lodging costs, travelers get the benefit of having increased privacy, common family/living/dining areas, and the ability to save by eating meals at home. This study underscores the value of vacation home rentals and the evergreen nature of the vacation rental industry."

ANNUAL HARLEY DAVIDSON SHOW IN REDDING

The Redding Harley Owners Group will hold its 19th annual American Motorcycle Show Feb. 23 and 24 at the Mt. Shasta Mall in Redding.

Public participation is welcome. Anyone can enter an American-made motorcycle for a preregistration fee of $35 ($45 at the event). The preregistration fee includes Saturday evening's Bike Show Awards Dinner. Fees must be postmarked by Saturday.

RECORD SNOW LEVELS! Mount Shasta currently has more snow than any mountain in the ENTIRE UNITED STATES! You know what that means, right? You guessed it! A full lake for 2008! Last week alone, Shasta Lake rose a full 7 feet! With record snow levels in the Shasta Trinity Recreation Area, this means an extended ski/snowboard season, and an amazing year on the lake!
